Simply walk out the front doors of the hotel to the vibrant, bustling St. Jacobs Farmers' Market – a sensory experience guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Vendors sell everything from fresh produce, meats and cheese, and international foods to locally handcrafted items. Sample Waterloo County sausages and hot apple fritters all year round.  Be sure to visit Peddlar’s Village to pick up the perfect gift, including housewares, antiques, home décor, tools, imported and local crafts, or fabrics and fashions for friends and family back home. In fair weather, there are picnic areas and pony rides for the kids - the animals at Farmer Jacob's Barn are a favourite. Don't be surprised to hear wandering musicians right next door to the hotel.

Drayton Festival Theatre

Just a short, picturesque drive from St. Jacobs, Drayton Festival Theatre boasts a rich history of entertaining audiences with the finest talent in professional theatre. This 1902 opera house has been recently renovated for excellent acoustics, comfort and accessibility.

St. Jacobs Schoolhouse Theatre

Located in a renovated schoolhouse originally built in 1867, the historic Schoolhouse Theatre offers an eclectic mix of charm and entertainment. With only 100 seats and marvelous acoustics, the theatre has an intimate, cabaret-style approach to professional theatre.

St. Jacobs Country Playhouse

Operating year-round, the 385-seat St. Jacobs Country Playhouse features the turn-of-the century masonry and heavy timber character associated with the traditional Mennonite lifestyle. It contains a raked layout that affords each seat a fantastic view of the stage. Open year round, the Playhouse is located right next to the hotel.

Stratford Shakespeare Festival

North America's premier classical repertory theatre presents the plays of William Shakespeare and other classical playwrights, along with musicals and contemporary productions; Beyond the Stage offerings include garden, backstage and costume warehouse tours, enrichment workshops, lectures, music and more.

African Lion Safari

Come face to face with more than 1000 exotic, native and rare animals of over 100 species at the nearby African Lion Safari. Experience the Drive-Through Game Reserve and see lions, zebras, baboons, big cats and many other animals roaming freely and waiting to meet you.

West Montrose Covered Bridge

The West Montrose Covered Bridge (known as the Kissing Bridge) was built entirely of wood in 1881. It is the second-oldest bridge and the last covered one in the region. The bridge ranks as the region's second most significant heritage bridge structure. It is a distinctive landmark that forms an integral feature of the Village of West Montrose and it is listed as provincially significant bridge.  

Wings of Paradise Butterfly Conservatory

At Wings of Paradise, you can take an unforgettable walk among more than 2000 live free-flying tropical butterflies, raised in Costa Rica and the Philippines, as well as among the twelve exotic bird species that fly freely in the Conservatory. Watch bees make honey in our observation honeybee hive, and get an up-close look at other interesting insects.

A tropical paradise, the Conservatory is lushly planted with more than 80 species of tropical plants, including palms, ferns, jasmine, and banana.

Joseph Schneider Haus Museum and Gallery

A dynamic community museum in downtown Kitchener on the edge of beautiful Victoria Park. The heart of the complex is the fine Georgian frame farmhouse built by one of the area's first pioneers, Joseph Schneider, a Pennsylvania-German Mennonite. Discover a local landmark gem and Kitchener's oldest dwelling. Most of museum is handicapped accessible.
